It Starts With Home
We believe everyone has the right to a healthy, safe, and secure place to call home.
We are a collective of community organizers, architects, and artists committed to anti-displacement and supporting refugees through design practices. We harness the power between analysis and direct action to divest from capitalistic systems that perpetuate inequity and forced uprooting. Our work exposes apartheid architecture and colonial planning, connecting local and global struggles. Through storytelling and design, we reclaim our collective memory and invite communities to dream, design, and build liberatory homes and villages.
HOME: From Palestine to Turtle Island strengthens the movement to divest from colonial industries within the built environment profession, while also nurturing networks with local community organizers and artists to amplify their work and join in intersectional solidarity.
The People’s Solidarity Tent is a project of HOME and offers a space for storytelling and art activation. Celebrating a commitment to our shared liberation and meditating on the memory of home, while naming the colonialist projects and industries responsible for disrupting our collective memories and demolishing homes and cities.
Statement On UIA Resolution On Palestine
Daarna and The Architecture Lobby (TAL) released a statement urging the American Institute of Architects (AIA) president Evelyn Lee and AIA leadership to adopt a resolution from the International Union of Architects (UIA) regarding Palestine.
The statement included five demands for President Lee and AIA leadership, calling on AIA to:
Publicly adopt the September 20, 2025 UIA resolution on Palestine
Censor in the form of disqualification from awards, leadership, or AIA media coverage of AIA members who participate in projects that promote occupation, colonization, or erasure of Palestinians or in illegally occupied territory, unless it is for the benefit of Palestinians in their land
Support international efforts to rebuild Palestine for Palestinians and center the voices of Palestinians within that rebuilding process
Disclose AIA ties to Israeli state institutions—whether through funds received or services provided
Divest from any funding from and to Israeli state institutions and those firms complicit in the illegal occupation, colonization, and erasure of Palestine
